As a wedding photographer, I’m always excited when I’m booked to return to Oxford Town Hall. It’s one of Oxford’s most iconic wedding venues and a place I genuinely love working at.
Located right in the centre of Oxford, it’s easy to see why the Town Hall is busy with weddings all year round. With its stunning architecture, rich history and central location, Oxford Town Hall is a perfect choice for couples seeking a timeless and elegant wedding in a spectacular city-centre setting.
Built in 1897, the Town Hall is a magnificent example of Victorian Gothic architecture. From its carved stonework and intricate plaster ceilings to its elegant interiors, the building has an air of sophisticated grandeur. It’s ideal for couples looking for a grand ceremony space or a venue where their entire wedding day can take place.
The venue is licensed for civil weddings and offers five ceremony rooms, each with its own special character.
Wedding Rooms
The jewel in the crown is undoubtedly the Grand Main Hall. With its vaulted plaster ceiling, balconies, stage and vast polished floor, it’s a magical location, perfect for a wonderful wedding breakfast and for dancing the night away.
For ceremonies, the Assembly Room is a beautiful choice. Its large windows flood the space with natural light, making it ideal for your ceremony photographs and group photos.
More intimate options include the Old Library and the Old Court Room, which even features its original dock! A wonderfully unique backdrop for smaller weddings.
Beyond the ceremony rooms, the building itself is full of photographic opportunities. The large windows, ornate corridors and elegant staircases are perfect for relaxed couple portraits without even needing to leave the building.

Oxford Town Hall also benefits from a fantastic central location. Iconic Oxford landmarks such as the Radcliffe Camera are just a short walk away. Christ Church Meadow, just along St Aldate’s, is also one of my favourite spots for capturing outdoor couple portraits.
