A calm, authentic approach to photographing your wedding day
Your wedding day isn’t a performance or a photoshoot. It’s a collection of real moments — big and small — centred around your love and commitment for each other and sharing the celebration with your family and friends. My job is to create a wedding photography experience that allows me to document those moments naturally, allowing you to stay present while your story is told.
For my couples, the wedding photography experience is centred around trust, ease and authenticity. From our first conversation to the delivery of your photographs, everything is designed to feel relaxed, unobtrusive and personal.
What you can expect
The wedding photography experience begins long before the wedding day itself. It’s about understanding who you are, how your day will feel, and what matters most to you.
You can expect:
- A calm, organised, straightforward process
- Clear communication and guidance
- A photographer who blends in rather than takes over
- Photography that reflects real emotion and connection
Nothing is forced or staged for the sake of a photograph.

Before the wedding
A relaxed wedding day starts with thoughtful preparation. The pre-wedding process is designed to be straightforward and supportive, giving you space to plan your day while knowing everything photography-related is quietly taken care of. I am always available before the wedding day to answer any questions and share experiences from past weddings.
Pre-meeting
Once you get in touch, we’ll begin with an informal conversation — usually a video call or phone chat. This isn’t about sales or ticking boxes. It’s simply a chance to talk about your plans, what matters to you, whether my approach feels like the right fit, and finding the perfect package.
It’s also an opportunity for you to ask questions and get a sense of how I work. Feeling comfortable and understood is an important part of the experience.
Questionnaire
Ahead of the wedding, I’ll send you a short questionnaire. This helps me understand the structure of your day, key people, and anything you feel is important to know. I can also work with you on the timetable to make sure everything works as you planned and there is space for the photos you planned rather than feeling rushed.
Rather than dictating how the day should run, the questionnaire allows me to prepare — so I know when to step back, when to be present, and what moments matter most to you.
Wedding consultation
Once the questionnaire is done, we’ll have a relaxed consultation a few weeks before the wedding to talk through your plans in more detail. We’ll go over timings, the flow of the day, and how photography will naturally fit around it.
This isn’t about staging or directing moments. It’s about understanding the rhythm of your wedding and making sure everything feels unhurried and comfortable. Using everything we’ve discussed, I’ll create a simple photography plan for the day. This isn’t a rigid schedule — it’s a guide that allows me to work while staying in tune with what’s important to you.
Optional ENgagement Shoot
Some couples like to include and engagement shoot in their package. This is a great investment if you are slightly camera shy or have not been photographed professionally before. An engagement shoot can help you get used to being in front of the camera and gives us a chance to get to know each other before the day. You also get some lovely images to use for invitations or your wedding website.
I offer a 25% discount on engagement shoots to couples booking a full day wedding package.

On your wedding day
A documentary approach, guided by people and moments
My approach to wedding photography is documentary at its core. That means observing rather than directing, and responding to what’s happening rather than creating it. Group photographs are kept relaxed and efficient, allowing you to spend time with your guests while ensuring those important family photos are thoughtfully taken.
This experience is for couples who:
- Want to enjoy their wedding without constant direction
- Prefer natural moments over posed images
- Value authentic storytelling
- Want photography that feels respectful and human
You won’t be asked to repeat moments or perform for the camera. The focus is always on allowing the day to unfold naturally.
Portraits that feel relaxed and unforced
While the majority of the day is photographed in a documentary way, I’ll always make time for a small number of relaxed portraits. Some of the couples I work with are a little camera shy — and that’s absolutely fine. My process is:
- Gently guided rather than posed
- Calm and unrushed
- Based on natural movement and connection
The portraits are designed to be a natural part of the day and a great moment to spend some time as a couple focussed on each other.

After your wedding
After your wedding day, your photographs are carefully curated and edited to tell the story of the day.
You’ll receive:
- A thoughtfully edited online gallery
- A natural, warm, timeless edit style
- Images that work together as a complete story
Wedding Album
Photographs and memories are made to be loved and enjoyed and not forgotten on a hard drive which is why I am a big believer in wedding albums. If you have also ordered a wedding album, I will guide you the selection process and design choices.

Is this the right wedding photography experience for you?
This experience is likely a good fit if you’re drawn to photography that feels:
- Natural rather than styled
- Calm rather than directed
- Authentic not forced
If you value being present on your wedding day and want photography that reflects the real experience, this approach may be exactly what you’re looking for.

Wedding Photography Experience FAQ
Will you help us plan the timing of the day?
Yes. Planning ahead really helps make the most of your wedding day. I’m also really happy to share all my experience from past weddings with you. I’ll offer guidance on timings and flow so everything feels calm and unhurried on the day, with space for the moments that matter most to you.
Do you pose couples on the wedding day?
For most of the day, I work in a documentary way, allowing moments to happen naturally. I do include a small amount of relaxed portrait time, gently guided and unrushed, so it feels like a natural pause rather than a photoshoot.
Couples tell me that they really enjoy the process and taking some quite time together focussed on each other.
I’ll also help organise moments like confetti and group photos to get the best out of those moments.
We’re camera shy — is this approach right for us?
Absolutely. I am used to working with couples that feel the same way. I specialise in making you feel comfortable in front of the camera so you can relax and enjoy the day.
The experience is designed to minimise direction and allow you to be yourselves, so you can enjoy the day without it feeling like a photoshoot.
