As an Oxford wedding photographer, I hadn’t visited the Medley Walled Garden before. and really enjoyed photographing my first wedding there. It truly is a hidden gem — perfect for couples looking for an outdoor wedding venue that embraces nature, space and a relaxed atmosphere.
Natural Outdoor Wedding Photos at The Medley Walled Garden
Set beside the River Thames and tucked away just minutes from the heart of Oxford, The Medley Walled Garden was the perfect setting for “H & M”. The couple who share a real love of nature and the outdoors. With its restored 17th-century brick wall, wildflower edges, open lawns and woodland backdrop, the venue offers endless opportunities for natural, romantic and light-filled wedding photography.
As a wedding venue, The Medley Walled Garden was ideal for the personal and intimate celebration the couple had imagined. They planned a celebrant-led ceremony in the gardens, framed by beautiful wildflowers and greenery. Guests entered the venue through the gate from the riverside path, arriving from the Thames and Port Meadow — a wonderfully relaxed and memorable way to begin the day.
Story-Led Wedding Photography
H & M chose a celebration that was relaxed, natural and deeply personal. A perfect fit for authentic, story-led wedding photography. The day was filled with laughter and candid moments as guests made the most of the gardens and outdoor spaces.
We were also able to slip away for a few minutes to capture some beautiful portraits of the couple. These made the most of the varied backdrops within the gardens, as well as the River Thames flowing just outside the venue. This relaxed approach allowed the couple to feel completely comfortable in front of the camera, resulting in natural and genuine images.
The day was a perfect mix of unobtrusive documentary wedding photography combined with relaxed, authentic couple portraits — all set against the unique and special surroundings of The Medley Walled Garden.
